A Gantt chart that's ready for your next periodic report
If you have ever exported a Gantt chart the night before a periodic report was due, you know the drill: blank pages before and after your actual timeline, a legend you have to explain in the cover email, and a nagging feeling that you have lost track of exactly which reporting period you are supposed to be looking at. None of that was really the Gantt chart's fault. It just was not built with a Horizon Europe consortium's reporting rhythm in mind.
We rebuilt it with that in mind.
A PDF you can actually hand to a reviewer
Export used to mean a PDF padded with blank pages before your project started and after it ended, fine for a generic timeline tool, not much use in an annex. The export is now trimmed to your project's actual span, laid out across as many A3 landscape pages as it needs, with a legend and bar labels included. What comes out the other end is something you can attach to a report without a cleanup pass first.
Here is that same project, live in EMDESK:
And here is the export it produces, one click later:
Every Work Package, the current delay, and both reporting periods, all on one page.
Never lose track of a reporting period mid-scroll
Reporting periods are now shaded directly on the timeline. Filter to a project and you will see each period as a distinct band, with a pinned row at the bottom that always shows which period you are currently looking at, no matter how far you have scrolled.
From the whole project to next week, in one scroll
Zoom is now continuous. Hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and scroll, or pinch on a trackpad, to move smoothly between a full project overview and week-level detail, anchored right where your cursor is. The old fixed zoom steps are still there as one-click presets (Year, Month, Week) for when you just want to jump straight to a scale, and a new Fit to view button snaps straight back out to the whole project in one click, handy right before a consortium meeting.
Spot what needs attention without hunting for it
The new At-Risk toggle highlights every overdue or due-soon activity, deliverable, and milestone in red, across the whole chart, list and timeline alike, so the items that need a decision from you do not get lost among everything that is on track.
Off: everything reads the same at a glance.
On: overdue and due-soon items jump out immediately.
And a few smaller things worth knowing
Columns in the list can now be resized and reordered by dragging, not just shown or hidden. A quick hover-to-report icon lets you log progress on an activity without leaving the chart. View Settings gives you control over exactly what shows up on each bar, including titles, status, completion, assignees, dependency lines, delay indicators, reporting periods and planned bars, with a legend built right in.
