Probably you have already heard that in January 2021 EU funded projects will meet a new funding programme – Horizon Europe, with an overall planned budget of €100 billion. But do you know which changes R&I will face in 2021-2027 or whether the Pillars in Horizon Europe will remain the same as in Horizon 2020 (H2020)?

During this one-hour webinar Liliya Levandovska describes the structure, multiannual strategic plan, and new R&I missions of Horizon Europe. And as she mentiones the three pillars of the new funding programme will differ a bit from those of Horizon 2020, namely:

  • Pillar I “Excellent Science” aimed to strengthen the excellence of the EU’s scientific and technological bases, will become “as open as possible, as closed as necessary”. For example, it’s planned to facilitate better access to scientific publications and knowledge sources.
  • Pillar II “Global Challenges and Industrial Competitiveness” aimed to develop new knowledge and translate it into useful innovations boosting the EU’s leadership, will be built at this time around six areas of intervention: 1) Health, 2) Culture, Creativity, and Inclusive Society, 3) Civil Security for Society, 4) Digital, Industry, and Space, 5) Climate, Energy, and Mobility, 6) Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment.
  • Pillar III “Innovative Europe” – a new pillar aimed to sustain market-creating breakthroughs and innovation-friendly ecosystems, will offer both financial support and market-based instruments to all types of innovators with the help of a new funding body, European Innovation Council (EIC).

All these novelties as well as financial changes in Horizon Europe are the result of the lessons learned from Horizon 2020. So, now considering all these changes how to prepare best for Horizon Europe? Are there any subsequent changes in the proposal templates and evaluation principles?

These and many more questions are covered during our webinar with Liliya Levandovska. As the expert in proposal development, she summarizes the key elements and novelties in proposal preparation and project management with an outlook for the future funding period.
